Disobedience…
The woman appropriated the Serpent’s wisdom over
God’s and determined the fruit that God had prohibited to be
desirable to make her wise. She took from it and ate along with
her husband, Adam. In doing so, the man and the woman
accepted the word of the creature over that of the Creator, and
submitted their rule to the Serpent. They immediately begin
making determinations of good and evil by attempting to cover
their nakedness with vegetation. In doing so, they were
representing the character of the Serpent instead of the
character of God. Realizing that they had been deceived by the
Serpent, they expected to receive the judgment of death which
God had warned them would accompany this disobedience.
They hid themselves from God, who confronts them through
His established chain of command, beginning with the man.
God is no longer being represented by man and His Word is no
longer being disseminated through man.
